Qing Ming in China

April 4 is the Qing Ming Festival in China. This traditional holiday to honor one’s ancestors falls on the 15th day after the spring equinox (April 4 in leap years; April 5 on other years). The day, called Tet in Vietnam, is celebrated in China and throughout southeast Asia by sweeping and decorating the graves of family members, making food offerings to the deceased, and burning joss paper for luck.
